Akumira®

In August 2000, Akumira® introduced a major improvement for viewing stereoscopic 3D images. Previous color anaglyphs caused extreme eyestrain, reduced color, and retinal rivalry. The typical work-around was to create images using limited colors and to carefully pick the subject matter. Akumira® provides maximum color with maximum viewing comfort using any colors and any subject matter. Stereoscopic 3D quality is excellent, with no flicker and little or no ghosting. Images can be viewed in relatively bright rooms with excellent quality and comfort. Akumira® works with any video card, on any display, and can be printed and viewed in stereoscopic 3D. Full color 3D photographs and movies can be converted to the Akumira® 3D format and viewed with very low cost paper glasses. Akumira® continues to provide the best quality color anaglyph images and video possible. Patent Pending.

Commercial Applications

Akumira® was used in the Sports Illustrated 3D Swimsuit CD-ROM and Sharks in 3D from Razor 3D.

Excellent red/cyan 3D glasses can be purchased from Reel3D. The 7003B paper glasses (call or email them for info, as the 7003B part is not listed on their site) and the 7026 plastic glasses work best.

Free 3D Glasses

Free 3D glasses are available from Rainbow Symphony, and American Paper Optics.
